Bhubaneswar, March 2, 2025 – The Odisha government will release Rs 5,000 to 1.7 lakh women beneficiaries under the Subhadra Yojana on March 6, 2025, marking the fifth phase of the scheme’s first installment. This move is a continuation of the government’s effort to empower women across the state.

The Subhadra Yojana, which has already surpassed a major milestone of benefiting over 1 crore women, will disburse the first installment of Rs 5,000 to women in this phase. The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) announced the milestone on social media, stating, "Odisha’s pathbreaking scheme, #SUBHADRA crosses 1 crore milestone. More than 1.7 lakh women will receive the 1st installment of Rs 5,000 in phase-5 on March 6, 2025. Keeping our promise, the 2nd installment of Rs 5,000 will be disbursed to about 1 crore women on #InternationalWomensDay (March 8, 2025); with its women on the move, Odisha marches ahead."

Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, who also handles the Women and Child Development Department, shared that more than 98 lakh women have already received the first installment of Rs 5,000 in the previous four phases. She emphasized the historical achievement, stating, "For the first time in the history of Odisha, one crore people have been covered under one scheme, and that too in a short span of just eight months."

The Subhadra Yojana, which was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 17, 2024, aims to provide eligible women aged 21 to 60 years with a total of Rs 50,000 over five years (2024-25 to 2028-29). The scheme has been a significant step towards women’s financial empowerment, with Odisha making rapid strides in ensuring its widespread impact.

The government has set March 31, 2025, as the deadline for eligible women to submit their applications for the scheme.

With this initiative, the Odisha government continues to demonstrate its commitment to improving the financial well-being of women across the state, marking a key milestone in its development agenda.
