Reasi, February 14: A Step Towards Strengthening Farmers' Income. Shri Bihari Lal, a resident of Chandwa village, Bhagtha Panchayat, Panthal block in the Reasi district, has established an oil extraction unit under the Holistic Agriculture Development Program (HADP) with a subsidy of ₹1.20 lakh from the Department of Agriculture.
The unit will promote the local processing of oilseed crops, improve farmers' incomes, generate rural employment, and boost the production of edible oils. Given that the region meets nearly 70-76% of its demand for edible oils from outside, such initiatives help reduce dependence and encourage self-reliance. The Department of Agriculture has urged farmers to utilize government schemes and adopt value-added activities to enhance their income and support agricultural growth.
