Sultanpur (Uttar Pradesh), May 17 – A 57-year-old man lost his life while three others sustained critical injuries following a head-on collision between two motorcycles on the Lucknow-Ballia National Highway in Sultanpur district, police reported on Saturday.

The accident occurred on Friday evening when Pradeep Upadhyay, a resident of Padarathpur, was returning home from Pandeybaba Bazaar. While taking a turn on the highway, his motorcycle collided with another bike coming from Kadipur.

The other motorcycle was carrying three youths identified as Babul Pal (18), Vishal Mali (20), and Sanoj (18), all residents of Bagsarai. The impact of the crash left all four severely injured.

Emergency services rushed the victims to the Community Health Centre in Kadipur. After preliminary treatment, all were referred to the Government Medical College in Sultanpur. However, Pradeep Upadhyay succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

Due to the severity of their condition, the three injured youths have been further referred to the Trauma Centre in Lucknow for advanced medical care.

Kadipur Station House Officer (SHO) Shyam Sundar confirmed that the deceased's body has been sent for post-mortem examination. An investigation into the accident is underway.
