New Delhi, Feb 3 (PTI) – The Lok Sabha turned into a political battlefield on Monday as BJP MP Ramvir Singh Bidhuri launched a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Delhi, accusing it of "looting" the national capital and turning it into "hell."

Speaking during the debate on the Motion of Thanks on the President's Address, Bidhuri showcased a list of the Modi-led central government’s initiatives, alleging that the AAP administration had deprived Delhi residents of key benefits in areas such as housing, healthcare, and transport.

With Delhi's Assembly elections set for February 5 and the vote counting scheduled for February 8, Bidhuri’s remarks were seen as a sharp electoral pitch. He confidently claimed that the BJP would secure over 50 seats under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and transform Delhi into a "world-class city."

Bidhuri’s Attack on AAP and Congress’s Role

The BJP leader also attempted to draw Congress members into the discussion, urging them to support his stand against AAP. He reminded them of past criticisms made by AAP leaders against Congress figures, particularly remarks made by Delhi Chief Minister and AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal about former Congress President Rahul Gandhi.

Listing central government-led development projects, Bidhuri highlighted infrastructure improvements such as biodiversity parks along the Yamuna River and expressways to ease traffic congestion.

"Such work is possible only if God comes down on Earth or such miracles can be done by Modi ji and no one else," he declared, emphasizing Modi’s role in Delhi’s transformation.

Allegations of Hindering Development Work

Bidhuri accused the AAP government of blocking key central schemes, including the Ujjwala Yojana, which provides free cooking gas connections to women, and non-allotment of flats under the PM Awas Yojana meant for the underprivileged. He further alleged that the AAP administration had refused to contribute its financial share to various development projects.

Additionally, he accused AAP of obstructing a skill development center in Delhi’s Jonapur village, a project initiated by former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit.

"Sheesh Mahal" Controversy

Sharpening his attack on Kejriwal, Bidhuri criticized him for allegedly breaking his promise of leading a simple life. He claimed that Kejriwal had constructed a luxurious official residence, dubbed a ‘sheesh mahal’ (glass palace), at a staggering cost of ₹179 crore.

"As many as 21 flats, including those of former judges and top officials, were demolished to make way for his residence," Bidhuri alleged.

With the elections drawing near, the debate in Parliament underscores the fierce three-way battle between AAP, BJP, and Congress, as each party intensifies its efforts to secure power in the national capital.
