BJP Claims India Achieved 100% of Its Targets in Counter-Terror Operation
New Delhi, May 12 — The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for fulfilling his vow to deliver an unprecedented response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives, mostly tourists. Addressing a press conference, BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra asserted that Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7, had accomplished all of its military objectives with remarkable precision.Patra said that under the operation, India destroyed nine terror sites, 11 Pakistani air bases, and killed over 100 terrorists and 50 soldiers, claiming the offensive had stripped Pakistan of its global standing. He added, “PM Modi's decision and our armed forces' indomitable courage have razed the terror sites to the ground. It was a promise by Modi.”
Retaliation with Precision
Operation Sindoor was carried out in retaliation for the deadly Pahalgam attack. Patra emphasized that the nature and execution of the operation were both military and non-military in form, and "unprecedented" in scale. He highlighted that one of the significant achievements was the first-ever strike in Pakistan’s Punjab province, long considered a secure zone and a terror hub.“Operation Sindoor dismantled terror camps linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), and Hizbul Mujahideen,” said Patra.
Strategic Fallout: Pakistan Left Isolated
The BJP leader said the operation sent a clear and decisive message in the global fight against terrorism. He claimed that even Islamic nations such as Saudi Arabia and the UAE distanced themselves from Pakistan after the strike, leaving the country diplomatically isolated.Patra also referenced the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, calling it another strategic move that could severely affect Pakistan’s economy and agriculture, thus weakening its internal stability further.
Social Media and Bureaucratic Support
Responding to a question on the online trolling of Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri after India and Pakistan agreed to halt military actions, Patra clarified that the BJP respects all individuals who contributed to the mission. Misri had made his X (formerly Twitter) account private after he and his family were targeted online.Patra remarked, “Social media is just a tool. It cannot dictate a nation’s strategic direction.”
Warning of Future Retaliation
While India and Pakistan have reportedly reached an understanding to cease military action, Patra issued a stern warning: “India will not hesitate to break this agreement in the event of another terror attack.”The BJP concluded its briefing by lauding national unity and the courage of the Indian armed forces, describing Operation Sindoor as a defining moment in India’s fight against cross-border terrorism.
