New Delhi, May 16 — Retired Lieutenant General Anil Kumar Bhatt, former Director General of Military Operations, has emphasized the growing significance of drones, space, and cyberspace in shaping the future of military conflicts. Citing insights from Operation Sindoor, he stated that modern warfare is undergoing a paradigm shift that demands strategic recalibration.
In an interview, Lt. Gen. Bhatt, who played a key role during the Doklam standoff, underscored how technologies like unmanned aerial systems and space-based surveillance transform traditional battlefield dynamics. He noted that Operation Sindoor is a prime example of how these technologies now serve as critical assets in conflict scenarios.
He also expressed concern over the aggressive rhetoric on social media during the recent four-day conflict. Responding to voices calling for the reclamation of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, the former Army officer said, “War must always remain the last resort.”
Lt. Gen. Bhatt reiterated that India had already achieved its strategic objectives during the operation and that prolonging the conflict would be unnecessary and counterproductive. He emphasized the importance of measured military responses over emotional provocations, calling for restraint and strategic foresight in national security decisions.
