Rajnath Singh Says Indian Military Might Be Felt Even in Rawalpindi
New Delhi, May 11 – Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday declared that the Indian armed forces, under Operation Sindoor, struck not only Pakistani military bases near the border but also made their presence felt in Rawalpindi, home to the headquarters of the Pakistani Army. His comments came while virtually inaugurating a new BrahMos production unit in Lucknow. The operation was launched in the early hours of May 7 as a retaliatory response to the Pahalgam terror attack, targeting nine terror infrastructures in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Singh said the operation symbolises not just military action, but also India's political, social, and strategic will to eliminate terrorism.
India's Measured Yet Firm Response
The Defence Minister emphasized that Indian forces acted with both courage and restraint, specifically targeting terrorist infrastructure while avoiding civilian harm. "We never targeted their civilians. But Pakistan not only targeted civilian areas in India but also tried to attack temples, gurudwaras, and churches," Singh stated. He added, “We have shown that whenever India takes any action against terrorism, even the land across the border will not be safe for the terrorists and their masters.”
Retaliation Rooted in Past Precedents
Drawing parallels with previous counter-terror operations, Singh highlighted India’s evolving military doctrine. “After Uri, our army conducted surgical strikes. After Pulwama, there were Balakot air strikes. Now, post-Pahalgam, India has once again entered Pakistan and delivered multiple strikes,” he said.He further reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s doctrine of zero tolerance against terrorism. “This is the new India which will take effective action against terrorism on both sides of the border,” Singh asserted.
Ceasefire Agreement with a Strong Message
Even as India and Pakistan announced an agreement on Saturday to cease all military actions on land, air, and sea with immediate effect, Singh emphasized that Operation Sindoor stands as a firm message to adversaries. “The entire country is congratulating the Indian military for the success of this operation,” he said.Singh concluded by stating that the world has witnessed the consequences of orchestrating or abetting terrorist activities against India, reinforcing India’s commitment to defending its sovereignty with strength and resolve.
