New Delhi – February 11, 2026 – The United States reiterated Tuesday that the Caribbean will not serve as a safe haven for illicit or sanctioned activities, stating that its joint military forces remain prepared to take decisive action against violations in the region. US military forces operating under SOUTHCOM command are supporting Operation Southern Spear, a mission focused on countering illegal activities and enforcing sanctions within the Caribbean. The Department of Defense confirmed that its forces have previously intercepted and apprehended vessels violating sanctions and are prepared to continue this work. The operation is being conducted in coordination with the Department of Homeland Security, the State Department, and the Justice Department, aligning with the US president’s priority of homeland security.
