Opposition bereft of ideas: BJP's Choudhry in Rajya Sabha

New Delhi, Feb 3 (PTI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Kiran Choudhry on Monday launched a sharp critique against the Opposition, accusing them of lacking ideas and attempting to mislead the public with a false narrative against the Modi government. Her remarks came as the Rajya Sabha commenced discussions on the 'Motion of Thanks on the President's Address.'

Moving the motion in the Upper House, Choudhry praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for addressing long-standing issues that had remained unresolved due to what she termed as "policy paralysis" and the "indifferent attitude" of the previous Congress-led government.

"It is heartening to know that Modi has placed Bharat at the center stage of the world community," said Choudhry, who represents Haryana in the Rajya Sabha.

President Droupadi Murmu, in her address to both Houses of Parliament on the opening day of the Budget Session, highlighted that the pace of development had significantly accelerated under the current government, claiming that progress had tripled in its third term. She emphasized the administration’s resolve to revive the economy from a state of stagnation.

Choudhry reinforced this stance, alleging that the Opposition was fabricating a misleading image of the Modi government. "The opposition parties, devoid of any concrete agenda, are falsely branding this government as anti-farmer, patriarchal, misogynistic, majoritarian, and despotic. This baseless propaganda stems from their desperation as their political influence continues to decline," she asserted.

She further claimed that the people had rejected this alleged misinformation campaign, citing BJP's recent electoral victories in Haryana and Maharashtra as proof of public trust in the party’s leadership.

The debate in the Rajya Sabha is expected to continue with sharp exchanges between the ruling party and the Opposition, as both sides position themselves ahead of key legislative discussions.
