Over 200 Arrested in Rohini During Month-Long Crime Crackdown

Delhi Police Intensifies Action Against Illicit Liquor, Gambling, Drugs, and Street Crime​

New Delhi, April 1 — In a sweeping crackdown on illegal activities, the Delhi Police have arrested over 200 individuals in North West Delhi’s Rohini during a month-long special drive that targeted excise violations, gambling, narcotics, and street crimes.

The drive, conducted from March 1 to March 31, resulted in the registration of:
  • 63 cases under the Excise Act
  • 55 cases under the Gambling Act
  • 12 cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act
According to an official statement, 64 people were arrested in connection with illegal liquor, 117 in gambling cases, and 15 in narcotics-related offenses.

Major Seizures: Liquor, Drugs, and Cash​

Police recovered significant quantities of contraband and cash during the operation:
  • ₹1.10 lakh in cash from gambling dens
  • Over 2,600 bottles of illicit liquor
  • 2.784 kg of cannabis
  • 60.34 grams of smack
  • 48.78 grams of charas
  • 25 banned tablets
  • 25 illegal injections

Crackdown on Street Crime and Vehicle Theft​

The crackdown extended to street-level criminal activity:
  • 13 robbers and 20 snatchers were apprehended
  • 44 auto-lifters were arrested, helping solve 45 vehicle thefts
  • 55 individuals involved in burglary and theft were caught, leading to the resolution of 86 theft cases

Action Under Arms Act and Public Drinking​

A total of 31 cases were registered under the Arms Act, with 34 offenders arrested.

Efforts to curb public nuisance saw 731 people booked for drinking in public under the Excise Act. Meanwhile, under the Delhi Police Act:

  • 14,935 individuals were detained for preventive action
  • 2,074 vehicles were impounded
  • 1,164 miscreants faced preventive legal action under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)
The police stated that the operation was part of a broader effort to enhance public safety and maintain law and order in the region.

“We remain committed to curbing illegal activities and creating a safer environment for citizens,” said the official.
