Over Rs 7,300 crore allocation in Union Budget for rail development in Jharkhand: Vaishnaw

Ranchi, Feb 3 (PTI) – The Indian Railways has allocated ₹7,306 crore to Jharkhand in the Union Budget 2025-26 to accelerate railway development in the state, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced on Monday.

Addressing the media via video conferencing, Vaishnaw highlighted the significant strides made in railway infrastructure in Jharkhand over the past decade. He stated that 1,311 km of new railway tracks had been laid in the state, surpassing the total rail network of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Additionally, 57 railway stations across Jharkhand are undergoing modernization under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, with an estimated investment of ₹2,314 crore. The minister also emphasized that the total railway investment in Jharkhand stands at approximately ₹60,000 crore.

The electrification of railway routes in Jharkhand has also reached a milestone, with 943 km electrified since 2014, achieving 100% electrification in the state, according to an official release.

Moreover, 12 Vande Bharat trains are currently operating across 14 districts in Jharkhand, further strengthening connectivity and passenger convenience.

The latest budget allocation is expected to enhance railway infrastructure, improve connectivity, and contribute to economic growth in the region.
