Hyderabad MP Calls for Accountability, Questions Foreign Mediation in India-Pakistan Truce
Hyderabad, May 10 – All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi has raised several pointed questions following the announcement of a ceasefire between India and Pakistan, asserting that regardless of the truce, India must continue its pursuit of those behind the Pahalgam terror attack. In a strongly worded post on social media platform X, Owaisi stated, “#Ceasefire or no ceasefire we must pursue the terrorists responsible for #Pahalgam attack.” He emphasized that lasting peace remains impossible as long as Pakistan continues to harbor terrorism on its soil.
Ceasefire Announcement by US Sparks Concern
Owaisi expressed discontent over the announcement of the ceasefire being made by the President of the United States instead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “I wish our PM @narendramodi had announced the ceasefire rather than the President of a foreign country,” he wrote, underlining India’s historical stance against third-party intervention since the Simla Agreement of 1972.The AIMIM leader questioned whether the current development could lead to the internationalisation of the Kashmir issue, reiterating that it must remain an internal matter of India.
Praise for Armed Forces and Call for National Unity
Owaisi acknowledged the role and courage of Indian armed forces, offering tribute to Army jawan M Murali Naik and Additional Deputy Commissioner Raj Kumar Thapa. He also extended prayers for civilians affected during the recent conflict. He stressed the importance of unity in the face of external aggression, saying, “India is strong when it is united; our enemies benefit when Indians fight Indians.” He urged citizens and political parties to reflect on the events of the past two weeks.
Questions on US Mediation and Talks with Pakistan
Raising further concerns, Owaisi sought clarity from the government on whether the United States guarantees Pakistan will no longer allow terror activities from its soil. He also questioned the rationale behind India’s participation in talks on neutral ground and asked for transparency regarding the agenda.“Was our goal to get a Trump-brokered ceasefire or was it to bring Pakistan to such a position that it would not even dream of another terror attack?” he asked.
FATF Grey List Demand
Owaisi concluded by stressing the need for India to maintain diplomatic pressure on Pakistan, particularly pushing for its inclusion on the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) grey list over terror financing concerns. His remarks highlight both support for national security efforts and a demand for accountability and transparency in the ceasefire process.
