Amritsar, May 14 – Pakistan on Wednesday repatriated Border Security Force (BSF) constable Purnam Kumar Shaw to India via the Attari-Wagah border in Punjab, weeks after he was apprehended along the India-Pakistan International Border in Ferozepur district.
The handover took place at 10:30 am and was carried out in a peaceful manner, adhering to established diplomatic and military protocols, according to a BSF spokesperson.
Shaw had been taken into custody by Pakistan Rangers on April 23, just a day after the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir that claimed multiple lives. His return marks a significant moment in cross-border cooperation amid heightened tensions following the attack.
The circumstances surrounding Shaw's apprehension have not been officially disclosed. However, his safe return was confirmed by the BSF, which welcomed him back during the formal procedure at the border checkpoint.
