Pakistan Reaffirms Commitment to Ceasefire Amid Fresh Border Tensions.webp

Islamabad, May 11 — Pakistan on Sunday reiterated its commitment to the ceasefire agreement with India, asserting that its military forces were responding to the escalating situation with “responsibility and restraint.”

This statement comes in the wake of a significant development on Saturday when India and Pakistan reached an understanding to immediately cease all military actions across land, air, and sea. However, within hours, the ceasefire came under strain, with India accusing Pakistan of violating the agreement.

Addressing the media in a late-night briefing, India's Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri urged Pakistan to take “appropriate steps” to curb the violations and handle the matter with “seriousness and responsibility.”

In response, a spokesperson for Pakistan’s Foreign Office stated, “Pakistan remains committed to faithful implementation of the ceasefire between Pakistan and India.” He further emphasized that Pakistani forces were managing the situation responsibly and advised that “any issues in smooth implementation of the ceasefire should be addressed through communication at appropriate levels.”

The spokesperson also called on ground troops from both sides to exercise maximum restraint to prevent further escalation.

The recent surge in tensions follows Indian Armed Forces’ targeted strikes on terror launchpads located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), which were carried out in retaliation for the terror attack in Pahalgam earlier last week.

As diplomatic channels attempt to stabilize the fragile truce, both nations remain under close international scrutiny for their next steps in managing the volatile situation.
