Pakistan to Host Women’s 50-Overs World Cup Qualifiers This Month

Karachi, March 3 – Pakistan will host the upcoming Women's 50-overs World Cup qualifiers later this month, marking the nation's continued involvement in international cricket tournaments. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed the development on Monday, announcing that they are collaborating with the International Cricket Council (ICC) to finalize the event's dates and venues.

The six-team qualifier will feature teams from Pakistan, Scotland, Ireland, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and the West Indies, all vying for a spot in the prestigious Women's World Cup.

According to PCB officials, Karachi, Multan, and Faisalabad are among the cities being considered as possible venues for the competition, especially as the 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is set to kick off on April 11.

“This is a significant opportunity for us. Hosting an ICC event right after the Champions Trophy is a testament to our growing reputation in international cricket,” a PCB official said.

This will be Pakistan's first time hosting a multi-team ICC women’s event, following their successful hosting of the ongoing eight-team Champions Trophy. Additionally, Pakistan recently staged a tri-series that included New Zealand and South Africa.

The Women's 50-overs World Cup qualifiers will provide a crucial platform for emerging women's teams to showcase their skills as they aim to secure a place in the prestigious ICC Women’s World Cup.
