New Delhi, March 3 – Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane has expressed her immense gratitude and excitement over the remarkable success of the re-release of Sanam Teri Kasam, which has now surpassed Rs 50 crore at the box office. Initially released in 2016, the film struggled at the box office but later gained a cult following among fans. Its re-release on February 7 has turned it into a major hit, with a response Hocane described as "absolutely magical."
Starring Harshvardhan Rane alongside Hocane, Sanam Teri Kasam marked Hocane's debut in the Indian film industry. The actress took to Instagram to share her emotions, posting a clip from one of the film's iconic scenes. In the video, Hocane’s character faints while Rane's character takes a photograph of her. The actress captioned the post:
"Not me fainting to the numbers 'STK' re-release is doing MashAllah absolutely magical! 'STK' re-releasing is a testament to the fact that 'waqt se pehle or naseeb se zyaada nahi mil sakta'—I’m so, so grateful for the love you’ve all poured in for the last 3 weeks. It’s unheard of. They’re saying we’ve made history."
In her message, Hocane also expressed her thanks to the film's directors, Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru, as well as the producers, for their support. She concluded her heartfelt post with a special mention of her co-star Harshvardhan Rane, stating, "Lastlyyy Harsh... so lucky that you get to be in the middle of it all… hope you’re soaking it in on my behalf as well, to many more InshaAllah."
The film’s renewed success has reignited interest in the romantic drama, leading to an announcement last year from Soham Rockstar Productions, one of the production banners behind the movie, that a sequel is in the works. While Rane is set to reprise his role, it remains unclear whether Hocane will return for the follow-up.
The phenomenal box office success of Sanam Teri Kasam’s re-release is a testament to the film’s lasting appeal and growing fanbase, making it one of the most talked-about stories in recent cinema.
