Chandigarh, Feb 3 (PTI) – The Haryana government has assured the Indian Medical Association (IMA) that all pending claims under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana will be cleared by the end of March. This commitment was made during a meeting held on Monday between Chief Principal Secretary to the Haryana Chief Minister, Rajesh Khullar, and IMA representatives, according to an official statement.
The government has pledged to process all claims submitted by March 10, ensuring their payment by March 31. To facilitate this, an adequate budget allocation has been approved in the revised budget. Additionally, Rs 2,500 crore has been earmarked for the next financial year to ensure the smooth processing and timely settlement of future claims.
Expressing gratitude for the prompt response, representatives of the Haryana unit of the IMA thanked Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini for addressing their concerns.
Providing further updates, Sangeeta Tetarwal, Chief Executive Officer of the Ayushman Bharat Haryana Health Protection Authority, stated that Rs 195 crore has already been disbursed for claims submitted since January 1. The remaining pending claims will be settled in February, while claims submitted until March 10 will be processed by March 31, 2025.
To streamline the claim settlement process, it was decided that a specialized team of doctors will handle claims related to medicine and pediatrics. Moreover, Artificial Intelligence will be deployed to detect suspicious cases, and hospitals will be promptly informed of any anomalies.
Tetarwal emphasized that hospitals will be provided with detailed explanations in cases where claim amounts have been reduced. Additionally, doctors will undergo retraining to ensure proper claim verification, preventing unnecessary deductions and ensuring timely payments.
Furthermore, patients unwilling to avail treatment under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana will be given the option to opt for treatment at their own expense. Strict instructions have been issued to officials to process and disburse claim amounts within the stipulated timeframe.
This initiative marks a significant step towards improving the efficiency of the Ayushman Bharat Yojana in Haryana, ensuring that hospitals receive their due payments without unnecessary delays.
