PM Modi Chairs High-Level Meeting Ahead of India-Pakistan DGMO Talks.webp

New Delhi, May 12 — Prime Minister Narendra Modi convened a meeting on Monday with key defence and foreign affairs officials ahead of the scheduled Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) talks between India and Pakistan.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, and the chiefs of the Army, Navy, and Air Force attended the meeting.

This strategic consultation comes as part of a series of regular reviews chaired by the Prime Minister in the wake of the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam. The government has been coordinating military and diplomatic responses to the incident, which claimed several lives and raised tensions in the region.

The high-level engagement coincides with the planned DGMO-level talks between India and Pakistan, aimed at reinforcing a mutual agreement announced on Saturday. Both nations had reached an understanding to cease all forms of military action, including firing on land, air, and sea, with immediate effect.

The outcome of Monday's DGMO talks is expected to significantly shape the security landscape and bilateral relations in the future.
