February 14, New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a warm welcome in Dibrugarh today. He inaugurated projects to improve connectivity, digital infrastructure, higher education, and public transport, with the aim of accelerating development across the North-Eastern Region.
During his visit, PM Modi also landed at the Northeast's first Emergency Landing Facility in Dibrugarh, calling it "a matter of immense pride" and highlighting its strategic and disaster-response significance on the social media platform X.
Later, addressing a public function in Guwahati, PM Modi said that this year's budget focuses on making the Northeast economically self-reliant, contrasting it with previous governments that had neglected the region.
He stated, "We are serving the Northeast, which the Congress party has always ignored, with dedication. The Northeast is like Goddess Ashtalakshmi for us. This year's budget will further strengthen the BJP-NDA's vision for Goddess Ashtalakshmi. The budget heavily focuses on making the Northeast economically self-reliant. This year, Assam will receive approximately Rs 50,000 crore as its share of taxes."
