New Delhi, May 18 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended heartfelt birthday greetings on Sunday to former Prime Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) president H D Deve Gowda, who turned 92.
In a post on social media platform X, PM Modi lauded Gowda’s contributions to Indian politics, describing him as a leader known for his statesman-like approach and enduring commitment to public service.
“Birthday wishes to our former Prime Minister, Shri HD Deve Gowda Ji. He is widely respected for his statesman-like approach and passion towards public service,” Modi wrote.
The Prime Minister also praised Deve Gowda’s wisdom, stating, “His wisdom and insights on several issues are a source of great strength. May he be blessed with a long and healthy life.”
H D Deve Gowda served as the 11th Prime Minister of India from June 1996 to April 1997. He continues to play an active role in national and regional politics as the president of the Janata Dal (Secular).
