PM Modi Holds High-Level Security Meeting After India-Pakistan Ceasefire Agreement

PM Modi chairs high-level meeting after ceasefire announcement.webp

New Delhi, May 10 — Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a crucial high-level meeting on Saturday evening, shortly after India and Pakistan reached an agreement to halt all military actions across land, air, and sea.

The meeting was convened in response to the ceasefire announcement made by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, who confirmed that the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both nations had agreed to cease all hostilities from 5 pm onwards. The announcement followed a significant diplomatic development, as US President Donald Trump stated earlier that the ceasefire came after talks mediated by the United States.

Joining Prime Minister Modi in the high-stakes meeting were Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, and the chiefs of the Army, Navy, and Air Force.

According to Foreign Secretary Misri, the DGMO of Pakistan initiated the communication by calling his Indian counterpart at 3.35 pm on Saturday, during which the ceasefire understanding was finalized.

This strategic gathering of India’s top security and defence leadership highlights the gravity of the recent developments and the government's commitment to ensuring preparedness and stability amid the shifting geopolitical landscape.
