Focus on Rural Development with 44 Projects Launched
Varanasi, April 11 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 44 developmental projects worth ₹3,880 crore in his parliamentary constituency of Varanasi, reinforcing the government's commitment to rural and infrastructure development.
According to Varanasi Divisional Commissioner Kaushal Raj Sharma, the inaugurated projects include a robust mix of initiatives across multiple sectors. Among the key highlights are:
- 130 drinking water schemes to improve access to clean water in rural regions
- 100 newly built anganwadi centres to support early childhood care and education
- 356 libraries, aimed at enhancing learning resources in villages
- A new polytechnic college in Pindra and a government degree college, expanding higher education opportunities
In addition to these, the Prime Minister also inaugurated a transit hostel at the police lines, police barracks in Ramnagar, and four newly built rural roads, further boosting both security infrastructure and rural connectivity.
Governor Anandiben Patel and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath were present during the inauguration ceremony, underlining the importance of these initiatives for regional development.
This mega launch is seen as part of a broader push by the central government to accelerate grassroots-level infrastructure and improve the quality of life in rural areas of Uttar Pradesh.
