Highlights India’s Rich Maritime Legacy and Future Vision

New Delhi, April 5 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday reiterated his government’s commitment to bolstering India’s maritime infrastructure and port development, emphasizing its vital role in the nation’s growth.

Marking National Maritime Day, PM Modi took to social media platform X to honor India’s maritime legacy and underscore the importance of the sector in national development.

“Today, on National Maritime Day, we recall India's rich maritime history and the role played by this sector in nation-building,” the Prime Minister posted.
He further stated,

“We will continue to strengthen the maritime sector and our ports for India's progress.”
National Maritime Day is observed annually to commemorate India’s maritime journey and its strategic significance in trade, economy, and global connectivity. The day serves as a reminder of the country’s long-standing relationship with the sea and the importance of modernizing the sector to meet future challenges.

PM Modi’s message aligns with the government’s broader vision to enhance port-led development, improve coastal infrastructure, and boost maritime trade as part of initiatives like Sagarmala.
