PM Modi to Chair NITI Aayog Governing Council Meeting on May 24

New Delhi, May 16—Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair the upcoming meeting of the NITI Aayog's Governing Council on May 24, official sources confirmed on Thursday.

Preparations are currently underway to finalize the agenda for the high-level meeting.

The Governing Council of NITI Aayog, the institution's apex decision-making body, comprises all chief ministers of states, lieutenant governors of Union Territories, and several Union ministers. As Chairman of NITI Aayog, Prime Minister Modi leads the council in setting key policy directions and reviewing progress on national development goals.

The Governing Council traditionally meets annually. The previous session was held on July 27, 2024, also under Prime Minister Modi's leadership.

This upcoming meeting continues the collaborative federal approach that began with the council's first session on February 8, 2015.
