Singapore Delegation Signals Renewed Collaboration; CRDA Confirms Progress on Key Infrastructure

Amaravati, April 3: Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary K Vijayanand has officially announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the state this April to relaunch the long-stalled construction of the Amaravati greenfield capital city. The mega initiative, worth approximately ₹1 lakh crore, marks a significant revival in the state's infrastructure ambitions.

Singapore’s Continued Role in Amaravati Development

The announcement was made during a high-level meeting between Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) officials and a visiting delegation from Singapore at the Secretariat. CRDA Commissioner K Kanna Babu briefed the delegation on the latest developments and appealed for Singapore’s renewed support—mirroring its earlier involvement in the project between 2014 and 2019.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit this month to restart the construction of Capital Amaravati," stated Vijayanand, highlighting the state's commitment to revitalizing the vision of a world-class capital.

Francis Chong, representing the Singapore government, responded positively and assured that efforts would be made to rebuild the strategic partnership that played a crucial role in Amaravati’s initial development phase.

No Funding Constraints: State Secures Backing from Major Institutions

Chief Secretary Vijayanand emphasized that the state government is financially well-equipped to execute the capital city plans, with robust support from the World Bank, HUDCO, and the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

During the presentation, Kanna Babu outlined that Amaravati's development is rapidly progressing across a 217 sq kmarea. Tenders have already been invited for major infrastructure projects, including the Amaravati government complex and multiple trunk roads.

Key Highlights of the Capital Revival

  • Rs 1 lakh crore worth of development works to be relaunched
  • Foundation stones to be laid for several projects
  • Inauguration of completed works scheduled during PM Modi’s visit
  • Continued focus on urban infrastructure and government complexes
The government aims to fast-track the construction to realize Amaravati's vision as a model capital city. The renewed collaboration with Singapore is expected to further accelerate technical and urban planning efforts.

As Andhra Pradesh prepares to welcome the Prime Minister, all eyes are now on the ambitious blueprint for Amaravati’s transformation.
