February 14, New Delhi – During his visit to Assam, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today landed at the Emergency Landing Facility (ELF) on Moran Bypass in Dibrugarh.
This is the first facility of its kind in the entire Northeast region. The Emergency Landing Facility converts a designated section of the national highway into an alternative runway during emergencies, capable of handling emergency landings and take-off operations for fighter aircraft, heavy transport planes, and helicopters.
Highlighting the importance of the Northeast's first emergency landing facility in Assam, PM Modi described it as "a matter of immense pride."
Sharing pictures on the social media platform X, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the facility's dual significance, noting that from a strategic perspective and during times of natural disasters, it is of great importance.
