Prayagraj, February 27 – Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for the grand success of Maha Kumbh 2025, calling it a truly global event. Addressing the media a day after the festival concluded, he also expressed gratitude to journalists for their extensive coverage.


Maha Kumbh: A Global Religious Event


Adityanath emphasized that Maha Kumbh 2025 set new benchmarks in spiritual tourism, thanks to Modi’s vision. “Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj truly became a global event, and the credit goes to the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. His vision helped us successfully execute this grand event, and the media played a crucial role in conveying its significance to the world,” he said.


He also highlighted Modi’s initiative to integrate faith with the economy, emphasizing Uttar Pradesh’s potential as a hub for spiritual tourism.


Record-Breaking Pilgrim Footfall


The event witnessed an unprecedented influx of pilgrims, reinforcing Uttar Pradesh's status as a religious tourism hotspot.


  • In 2024 alone, 64 crore devotees and tourists visited key religious sites, including Ayodhya, Varanasi, Mathura, Prayagraj, Chitrakoot, Vindhyachal, Gorakhpur, and Naimisharanya.
  • Over the past 45 days, Maha Kumbh drew 66 crore pilgrims and tourists, breaking records for religious tourism.

Expansion of Spiritual Tourism Corridors


The Chief Minister highlighted the development of five major spiritual tourism corridors, facilitating smoother pilgrim movement across Uttar Pradesh:


  1. Varanasi-Mirzapur-Prayagraj-Ayodhya-Gorakhpur
  2. Prayagraj-Lalapur-Chitrakoot
  3. Prayagraj-Lucknow-Naimisharanya
  4. Prayagraj-Bundelkhand Expressway-Mathura-Vrindavan-Sukhteerth
  5. Additional pilgrimage routes across the state

Millions of devotees used these corridors during the Maha Kumbh, including international visitors.


International Participation and High-Level Delegations


The event saw participation from over 100 countries, with ambassadors and high commissioners from 74 nations.
Additionally, ministers and presidents from 12 countries attended, reflecting the global stature of Maha Kumbh 2025.


Massive Infrastructure and Security Investments


The central and state governments spent approximately ₹7,500 crore on infrastructure, ensuring smooth logistics and safety. Key developments included:


  • 200+ roads, 14 flyovers, multiple underpasses, and 12 new corridors in Prayagraj.
  • Deployment of nearly 1 lakh personnel, including Uttar Pradesh Police, PAC, Fire Services, Water Police, Home Guards, ATS, and STF commandos.
  • AI-enabled surveillance with 30,000 CCTV cameras, real-time crowd monitoring, and facial recognition technology.
  • Aerial surveys and 360-degree AI-based monitoring for crowd management.
  • 15,000 sanitation workers ensuring cleanliness.

Transportation and Connectivity


To accommodate the massive influx of pilgrims:


  • The Indian Railways operated 13,000 special trains.
  • 3.15 crore passengers traveled via Uttar Pradesh State Transport Corporation buses.
  • 7,000 state transport buses and 750 shuttle buses were deployed.
  • The Railways, Civil Aviation, and Road Transport Ministries played a crucial role in managing transportation logistics.

A Grand Success


CM Adityanath’s extensive monitoring, including aerial surveys and AI-based surveillance, ensured seamless crowd management and security throughout the festival. The successful execution of Maha Kumbh 2025 reinforced India’s stature as a global leader in spiritual tourism, further integrating faith with economic progress.


With record-breaking attendance, world-class infrastructure, and global recognition, Maha Kumbh 2025 has set new standards, solidifying Uttar Pradesh’s position as the epicenter of religious tourism.
