
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, February 12 A case has been registered in the Dharashiv district of Maharashtra against a former village headman for allegedly cultivating opium in his fields.
The accused, Samadhan Ughade, a member of the Shiv Sena (UBT), was on the run, according to a police official.
"We received information about opium cultivation in Dasegaon and conducted a raid. Approximately 400 kg of opium flowers, valued at Rs 72 lakh, were seized, and a First Information Report was registered at the Washi police station under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act," he said.
Police are searching for Ughade, the official added.
