Jammu, February 9 Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday directed the police to take decisive action against terrorism and collaborate with every individual in society to completely eliminate the terror network in the Union Territory.
He reiterated his commitment to eradicating the drug menace, stating that the police are taking tough measures against the problem and urged society to come forward to partner in its eradication.
"We need to take decisive action against terrorism and collaborate with every individual in society to completely eliminate the terror network," Sinha said while addressing the inaugural ceremony of the Police Martyrs Memorial Hockey Tournament at the K K Hakku Hockey Stadium in Jammu.
This year's event will feature 14 competing teams as the tournament resumes after a gap of more than 10 years.
"The unbreakable resolve and message of the J&K Police to the nation is that adversity will not break our spirit. We will overcome every obstacle to achieve new milestones as we progress," the LG said.
He said that the brave personnel of the J&K Police, who sacrificed their lives for the nation's future, wore their uniform as a duty towards all and valued national honour above their own lives, and they must live on in our memories.
The LG observed that real tributes to the bravehearts do not fade but remain vibrant and inspire future generations.
"Our police martyrs embodied the philosophy of duty and self-sacrifice. Our duty is to pass on these values and build strong characters in the youth," Sinha said.
He commended the J&K police force for empowering youth through its civic action program.
"The J&K Police's civic action program is not just a government scheme—it is a mindset that shows society that lasting peace flows from mutual trust. It proves that security is strengthened through relationships and community involvement," he said.
He called upon every section of society to stand up against drug abuse.
"We reaffirm our commitment to a drug-free J&K, and the Police Martyrs Memorial Hockey Tournament declares this commitment," he said.
