Powergrid to Raise ₹6,000 Crore via Bonds in FY 2025-26

New Delhi, April 4 – Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (Powergrid) has announced plans to raise up to ₹6,000 crore through bonds during the current financial year, as approved by its Committee of Directors for Bonds.

₹1,500 Crore Base Issue with ₹4,500 Crore Green Shoe Option​

According to the company’s regulatory filing on Friday, the bond issuance will consist of a base size of ₹1,500 crore, accompanied by a green shoe option to retain oversubscription up to ₹4,500 crore. This brings the total possible fundraising to ₹6,000 crore.

Key Details of the Bond Issue​

Powergrid stated that the bonds will be:
  • Unsecured, non-convertible, non-cumulative, and redeemable
  • Taxable in nature
  • Labeled as Powergrid Bonds-LXXXI (81st Issue) 2025-26
  • Redeemable at par after a period of 10 years
  • Carrying annual interest payments
The funds will be raised via private placement, continuing the company's strategy to secure long-term financing for infrastructure and operational needs.
