Thiruvananthapuram, May 17 — Senior CPI(M) leader and former MLA Pradeep Kumar has been appointed as the new private secretary to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, marking a key reshuffle within the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).
A statement released by the CMO on Saturday confirmed the appointment. The decision follows the recent posting of the former private secretary, K K Ragesh, as the CPI(M)'s district secretary in Kannur.
Pradeep Kumar, currently a state committee member of the CPI(M), has a long-standing association with the party. He served as the MLA from Kozhikode North for three consecutive terms and has maintained a strong presence in state politics.
Speaking to the media after the announcement, Kumar described the new role as a “significant responsibility.”
“I have been keeping away from parliamentary politics for some time, and now I am engaged in party activities. This new responsibility has come as a continuation of that commitment,” he said.
He also assured that he would strive to discharge his duties with dedication and effectiveness.
Kumar’s political journey began in the 1980s as an activist with the Students Federation of India (SFI), the student wing of CPI(M), and has since evolved through decades of public service and organizational leadership.
