The Department of Journalism and Media Studies and the Translation Club, Utsaah–Club Consortium, University of Jammu, in collaboration with the Voice of Dogras, organized a one-day workshop titled "Writing Our Jammu: From Culture to Creativity – Jammu Di Kahani, Jammu Di Zubani."
The workshop aimed to encourage young writers to explore and present Jammu's rich cultural and historical narratives through responsible storytelling in local languages. Emphasis was placed on preserving regional identity while creatively documenting the lived experiences, traditions, and folklore of the region.
Shri Pradeep Dutta and Shri Naveen Nawaz attended the program as chief guests, while noted author Vikram Singh and Colonel Ajay Raina participated as resource persons. The speakers highlighted the significance of authentic storytelling rooted in local culture and heritage, and urged aspiring writers to reflect the true essence of Jammu in their creative work.
The event provided a vibrant platform for interaction between experienced writers and students, inspiring participants to use literature and media as tools for cultural preservation and creative expression.
