New Delhi, May 11 – On the eve of Buddha Purnima, President Droupadi Murmu extended warm greetings to citizens across India and followers of Lord Buddha worldwide, urging everyone to embrace his timeless ideals to foster a peaceful, harmonious, and developed Bharat.
In a message released by the Rashtrapati Bhavan, the President highlighted the enduring relevance of Bhagwan Buddha’s teachings. “The immortal message of non-violence, love and kindness given by Bhagwan Buddha, the embodiment of compassion, is the basic mantra for the welfare of mankind,” she said.
President Murmu underscored the significance of Buddha’s principles in contemporary society. “His ideals strengthen our faith in the eternal values of equality, harmony and social justice. His teachings inspire us to live a life based on morality,” she noted.
Buddha Purnima commemorates the birth of Gautam Buddha, who was born in Lumbini (present-day Nepal) and attained enlightenment and salvation in Kushinagar, India. The day holds deep spiritual and cultural importance for Buddhists around the world.
Calling on all citizens to draw inspiration from the life and values of Lord Buddha, the President said, “Let us adopt the ideals of Bhagwan Buddha in our lives and contribute in building a peaceful, harmonious and developed Bharat.”
She concluded by conveying her heartfelt wishes to fellow citizens and global followers of Buddha on this auspicious occasion.
