New Delhi, April 1 — President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday extended her heartfelt greetings to the people of Odisha on the occasion of Odisha Day, also known as Utkala Dibasa, commemorating the formation of the state on April 1, 1936.

Highlighting the significance of the day, the President said, "Warm greetings to the people on Odisha Day! It is an occasion to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Odisha and the remarkable contribution of its people in various fields."

Odisha Day marks the historic separation of Odisha from the combined Bengal-Bihar-Orissa province under British rule. In 2011, the state was officially renamed from Orissa to Odisha.
