
Ekta Nagar (Gujarat), Feb 27 – President Droupadi Murmu, on a four-day visit to Gujarat, visited the Statue of Unity in Ekta Nagar, formerly Kevadia, and paid homage to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, India’s Iron Man.
Arriving in Ekta Nagar on Wednesday night, the President’s itinerary includes attending convocation ceremonies at the National Institute of Design (NID) and the National Forensic Science University (NFSU), along with visits to Kutch and Dholavira.
According to an official post on the President of India’s X handle, Murmu honored Patel at the monumental statue, the world’s tallest, which commemorates his role in unifying India.
Additionally, she toured the Sardar Sarovar Dam and Jungle Safari Park at Ekta Nagar. A Gujarat government release detailed that she was briefed on the dam’s construction challenges, storage capacity, power generation, and the extensive canal network that benefits multiple states.
Convocations and Visits to Kutch and Dholavira
Later on Thursday, the President will preside as the chief guest at the 44th convocation ceremony of the National Institute of Design (NID) in Ahmedabad.On February 28, she will attend the third convocation of the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) in Gandhinagar. Following this, she will travel to Bhuj in Kutch to visit the Smritivan Earthquake Memorial, which commemorates victims of the 2001 Gujarat earthquake.
On March 1, Murmu will conclude her visit with a trip to Dholavira, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its Harappan-era archaeological significance.
Her Gujarat tour underscores a blend of historical reverence, academic encouragement, and cultural exploration, reflecting the state’s rich heritage and development.
