New Act Aims to Ensure Equitable Use of Waqf Properties for the Needy in Muslim Community
Bhopal, April 6:Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has welcomed the enactment of the Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025, asserting that it will lead to transparent, equitable, and accountable management of Waqf properties, ensuring that the benefits reach the poor, needy, and deprived members of the Muslim community.
The development follows President Droupadi Murmu's assent on Saturday to the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2025, along with the Mussalman Wakf (Repeal) Bill, 2025, both of which were passed by Parliament earlier this week.
Transparent Waqf Property Governance
Speaking on the approval, Chief Minister Yadav emphasized that the new Act would pave the way for inclusive development.“This Act will ensure transparent, equitable and accountable management of Waqf properties and will bring its benefits to the really needy, poor and deprived people of the Muslim community, thereby paving a new path for their education, health, housing and employment opportunities,” he stated.
Praise for Central Leadership
Yadav extended his congratulations to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, describing the legislative move as a “bold, visionary, constitutional and unprecedented decision.”Highlighting the Centre’s commitment to inclusive growth, Yadav said the government, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, is working towards the upliftment of every section and community, guided by the principles of justice and empowerment.
Parliamentary Passage After Intense Debate
The Parliament passed the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2025 after an extensive 13-hour debate in the Rajya Sabha, which gave its approval in the early hours of Friday. With the President's assent, the bill is now officially an Act.
