13 Dead, 14 Injured in Tragic Collision Near Raipur​

New Delhi, May 12 – President Droupadi Murmu on Monday expressed deep sorrow over the death of 13 people, including women and children, in a devastating road accident in Chhattisgarh’s Raipur district.

The tragic incident occurred late Sunday night near Saragaon on the Raipur-Balodabazar road, where a collision between a trailer and a goods truck claimed multiple lives and left 14 others injured.

Taking to social media platform X, President Murmu said in Hindi, "The news of the death of many people, including children and women, in a road accident in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, is extremely sad. I express my deepest condolences to the bereaved families and pray for the speedy recovery of those injured."

CM Announces Ex-Gratia for Victims​

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai also expressed grief over the incident and assured support to the victims' families. He announced a compensation of ₹5 lakh for the next of kin of the deceased and ₹50,000 for each injured.

The accident, mainly involving women and children, has sparked concerns over road safety and heavy vehicle regulation in the region. Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the collision.

Emergency Response and Investigation Underway​

Rescue and medical teams were promptly deployed to the accident site, and the injured were rushed to the nearest hospital. Police and district administration officials oversee the situation and ensure all necessary aid is being provided to the affected families.
