Mufti Shah Mir Targeted by Unknown Gunmen in Turbat​

Mufti Shah Mir, a renowned Pakistani Islamic scholar, was tragically shot dead by unidentified assailants in Balochistan's Turbat town on Friday. According to local police reports cited by Dawn newspaper, Mir was attacked shortly after he exited a mosque following night prayers.


Witnesses described that armed assailants on motorcycles opened fire on Mir, causing severe injuries. He was immediately rushed to the nearby Turbat Hospital, but despite urgent medical attention, he succumbed to multiple bullet wounds sustained during the attack.

Repeated Attacks Highlight Security Concerns for JUI-F Leaders​

Mufti Shah Mir was closely associated with the political and religious party Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F (JUI-F). Notably, this wasn't the first attack targeting Mir; he had previously survived two assassination attempts.


The killing of Mufti Shah Mir follows closely on the heels of the murder of two other JUI-F leaders in Khuzdar, further intensifying concerns regarding the security of religious leaders in Balochistan province.


Authorities have initiated an investigation, but no arrests have been made, and the attackers' motives remain unclear.
