Jammu, February 8 A suspected hardcore criminal has been detained under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA) here, police said on Sunday.
Baldev Raj, a resident of Kothe Chorli village in Bishnah, has been lodged in the Bhaderwah district jail after his detention under the PSA, they said.
An official said Raj is a hardcore criminal and has been booked under the PSA after obtaining formal detention orders from the District Magistrate, Jammu.
"Multiple FIRs have already been registered against the criminal in different police stations in Jammu," he said.
In order to prevent the subject from engaging in criminal activities, a dossier under the PSA was recommended against him and forwarded to the District Magistrate, Jammu, who issued a PSA warrant against him, the official said.
He said the locals of the area have highly appreciated the efforts of the police in curbing criminal activities.
"The police is committed to ensuring the safety and security of people, and all necessary measures are being taken to curb criminal activities, including drug peddling and organized crime, in the region," the official said.
