Puducherry Elections: Congress Targeting Current Administration's Failures

Puducherry Elections: Congress Targeting Current Administration's Failures.webp

Puducherry, February 17 Accusing the ruling AINRC-BJP dispensation of failing to address issues, including unemployment, AICC general secretary (Organisation) K C Venugopal said on Tuesday that a Congress-led coalition government would be formed after the upcoming elections in this union territory.

The AINRC-BJP coalition government "has cheated the people of the UT by failing to address unemployment, maintaining law and order, and (issues related to) health," he charged.

Addressing party workers at the end of a padyatra (foot-march) here, Venugopal alleged widespread corruption in the UT.

When Prime Minister Narendra Modi was visiting during the 2021 elections, he had promised that Puducherry would become the "best". "Has this happened, and has the problem of youth unemployment been addressed in the past five years?" he asked.

Venugopal said that the Congress alliance would form the next government here and would ensure the development of Puducherry.

He also stated that it was shocking that a factory producing fake medicines had been operating in Puducherry for the past five years, posing a threat to public health.

"This is the perfect time for the people to ensure the formation of a Congress-led government in Puducherry," he said.

He also accused the coalition government of failing to fulfill any of the promises made during the 2021 elections.

Puducherry Pradesh Congress Committee president and Lok Sabha MP V Vaithilingam and former Chief Minister V Narayanasamy were among those who addressed the gathering.

Former AINRC legislator T P R Selvam joined the Congress in the presence of Venugopal.

The padyatra was organized by the PCC from near Gorimedu to Mission Street.
