
Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated that the government is focusing on creating employment opportunities for the youth of Puducherry in emerging sectors such as Information Technology, Data Centres, and Artificial Intelligence. Addressing a public meeting in Karaikal, Mr. Shah said that steps are being taken to enable the Union Territory's fishermen to access global markets through international trade linkages, ensuring better returns for their produce.
He noted that leading software firms, including Zoho, have begun operations in Puducherry. He added that a laptop manufacturing unit has also been established, with plans to export products to various countries.
Mr. Shah further stated that financial support has been extended to revive defunct textile mills in the Union Territory. He expressed confidence that Puducherry would emerge as a model developed region of the country within the next five years. Union Labour and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and several BJP functionaries were also present on the occasion.
