Pune, Feb 26 – Tensions escalated at the Swargate bus station as protesters, led by Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Vasant More, vandalized the security office following an alleged rape incident inside an MSRTC bus. The demonstration, which took place on Wednesday, saw party workers smashing window panes and furniture while women activists voiced strong opposition to the BJP-led Maharashtra government.

The protest was triggered by the alleged sexual assault of a 26-year-old woman inside a stationary Shiv Shahi AC bus at the Swargate depot in the early hours of Tuesday. The accused, identified as Dattatraya Gade, a known petty criminal, remains at large. Authorities have formed eight teams to track him down, an official confirmed.

The incident has sparked outrage, with demands for swift justice and enhanced security measures at public transport hubs.
