Chandigarh, Feb 27 – The Punjab government has constituted a five-member ministerial committee to oversee the ongoing crackdown on drug abuse in the state. The committee, chaired by Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, will monitor the efforts of law enforcement and health departments, sources confirmed.

The panel also includes New and Renewable Energy Minister Aman Arora, Health Minister Balbir Singh, Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar, and Industries Minister Taranpreet Singh Sond.

The state government has adopted a multi-faceted strategy encompassing enforcement, prevention, de-addiction, and rehabilitation to combat the drug crisis. This latest initiative comes in response to mounting pressure from opposition parties, who have been vocal in their criticism of the administration's handling of the issue.

The committee is expected to ensure coordinated action and enhance the effectiveness of anti-drug measures across Punjab.
