Facility Built at Rs 1.29 Crore to Boost Emergency Response in Key Industrial Zone
Jalandhar, May 12 — Punjab Cabinet Minister Mohinder Bhagat on Monday inaugurated a new fire station at the sports and surgical complex in Jalandhar, a move aimed at enhancing emergency preparedness in one of the city’s most critical industrial zones. The project has been constructed at a cost of Rs 1.29 crore.Speaking at the event, Bhagat, who also holds the portfolios of Horticulture, Freedom Fighters, and Defence Services Welfare, extended his gratitude to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for prioritising infrastructure that safeguards public safety.
He noted that the area is home to several vital industries, including sports goods, surgical instruments, leather, and rubber manufacturing. “The establishment of this fire station will enable faster and more effective responses to fire emergencies, providing a much-needed safety net to local businesses and residents,” he said.
Modern Firefighting Infrastructure Installed
The fire station has been equipped with four specialised vehicles to handle various fire-related emergencies. This includes one fire tender with a 12,000-litre capacity, two with 6,000-litre capacities, and a rescue tender. Additionally, the facility includes an underground water storage tank with a 1 lakh litre capacity, supported by a 20-horsepower motor to ensure efficient water access during operations.Strengthening Urban Infrastructure
Minister Bhagat highlighted that the state government, under CM Mann's leadership, is actively working to bolster both urban and rural infrastructure. He said that long-pending public demands are being addressed in a phased and systematic manner, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to the people’s welfare.He also reiterated his dedication to making Jalandhar a more beautiful and well-equipped city through sustained development initiatives.
Mayor Applauds the Initiative
On the occasion, Jalandhar Mayor Vineet Dhir congratulated the local community and emphasised the significance of the new facility. “The fire station will significantly strengthen the administration’s ability to manage and mitigate fire hazards effectively,” he stated.The inauguration marks a crucial step in improving emergency response infrastructure in one of Punjab’s key industrial districts.
