Chandigarh, May 10 – Amid heightened military tensions between India and Pakistan, senior Punjab ministers conducted visits to sensitive border districts on Saturday to assess preparedness, reinforce civil support mechanisms, and boost public morale.

Punjab Government Stands with Border Residents

Punjab Cabinet Ministers Tarunpreet Singh Sond and Baljit Kaur visited Fazilka, where they held key meetings with the district administration and reviewed critical facilities, including the local civil hospital. They assured residents that the Bhagwant Singh Mann-led government remains firmly committed to their safety and well-being.

During interactions in city markets, the ministers emphasized that the state government is fully prepared to handle any contingencies. “All necessary support is being extended to the armed forces, and civil, police, and health departments are operating round-the-clock,” Sond stated.

Minister Baljit Kaur echoed similar sentiments, calling on the public to remain calm and not succumb to fear or anxiety. She assessed the preparedness of the blood bank, healthcare facilities, and other critical civil services in the region.

Civil Hospital Readiness and Public Assurance

Both ministers personally inspected the civil hospital, confirming the availability of adequate beds and essential medicines. Their visit aimed to reinforce confidence among residents that all precautionary steps are in place.

Local citizens and shopkeepers appreciated the administration’s outreach efforts, with many pledging support to national security forces and expressing satisfaction with the arrangements.

Ministers Khudian and Mundian Visit Ferozepur After Drone Incident

In a parallel visit, Ministers Gurmeet Singh Khudian and Hardeep Singh Mundian toured Ferozepur, where they met families affected by a crashing projectile from a Pakistani drone, intercepted by Indian air defences. The debris landed on a home in Khai Pheme Ke village, injuring three members of a family and causing a fire that damaged their house and vehicle.

The ministers visited the local hospital to interact with the injured and assured them of all possible state support and a speedy recovery. They also held strategic meetings with hospital staff, civil officials, and police to review preparedness and response mechanisms.

Emphasis on Emergency Protocols and Blackout Instructions

Khudian and Mundian underscored the importance of following government-issued advisories, including blackout protocols, to prevent further risks during escalations. They also directed officials to ensure that essential medicines and emergency facilities are well-stocked across the district.

Reiterating Punjab’s solidarity with the armed forces, the ministers assured citizens that the state and local administration are committed to their safety and are fully geared to meet any emerging challenges.

Punjab's 532-Km Border Under Vigil

With Punjab sharing a 532-kilometre border with Pakistan, these visits underscore the proactive approach of the state government in maintaining readiness and public trust during a period of heightened military activity.

For ongoing updates and safety advisories, residents are urged to stay connected with official state channels.
