Chandigarh, March 2: Punjab Police on Sunday arrested a notorious gangster identified as Hardeep Singh alias Deepa from Ferozepur district, recovering sophisticated weapons and narcotics sourced from across the border.
In a targeted intelligence-based operation, Punjab's Counter Intelligence unit in Ferozepur apprehended Hardeep Singh, a resident of Ghall Khurd village in Ferozepur. Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav shared details of the arrest on social media platform X.
Arms and Drugs Seized
According to DGP Yadav, police recovered an alarming arsenal from the gangster's possession, including:- Three sophisticated firearms:
- One Glock pistol
- One Beretta .30 caliber pistol
- One pump-action gun
- 141 assorted cartridges:
- 9MM
- .30 caliber
- 12 bore ammunition
- 45 grams of heroin
- A car used for transporting the contraband
Weapons Intended for Terror and Crime
The preliminary investigation revealed that the seized firearms and narcotics were smuggled from across the international border and intended for use in terrorist and criminal activities, said DGP Yadav.Police have registered a formal case in Fazilka and are continuing further investigations to uncover additional connections and break the cross-border smuggling networks.
