Chandigarh, March 7: In a significant security breakthrough, the Punjab Police successfully thwarted a planned target killing orchestrated by a terror module backed by the banned outfit Babbar Khalsa International (BKI). The timely intervention resulted in the arrest of three suspects, identified as Jagroop Singh alias Jagga, Sukhjit Singh alias Sukha, and Navpreet Singh alias Nav.
Punjab’s Director General of Police, Gaurav Yadav, confirmed the arrests on Friday and shared details about the operation. The plot was reportedly masterminded by Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi Nawashehria, a US-based gangster with close ties to Pakistan-based terrorist Harwinder Singh Rinda, alongside another associate, Laadi Bakapuria, currently residing in Greece.
Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), DGP Yadav highlighted the swift action of the Counter Intelligence unit of Jalandhar. “In a major breakthrough, Counter Intelligence, #Jalandhar averts another major target killing in #Punjab, planned by Babbar Khalsa International (BKI)-backed terror module with the arrest of three members of the module, Jagroop Singh @ Jagga, Sukhjit Singh @ Sukha & Navpreet Singh @ Nav, and recovers four sophisticated weapons along with ammunition,” he stated.
