ISI-Linked Consignment Aimed at Spreading Unrest, Says DGP Gaurav Yadav
Chandigarh, April 6 — Punjab Police have arrested a man in Amritsar Rural for possession of counterfeit currency worth ₹2.15 lakh along with illegal arms and ammunition. The arrest is being seen as part of a larger conspiracy linked to Pakistan’s intelligence agency, ISI.The accused, identified as Jarman Singh, was apprehended by the Amritsar Rural Police, according to Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav.
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), DGP Yadav detailed the seizure:
“Recovery: One Glock 9mm Pistol, One .30 Calibre Pistol, 3 Magazines & ₹2,15,500 in fake currency.”
ISI Connection Under Probe
Preliminary investigations suggest that the consignment was orchestrated by operatives of Pakistan’s ISI, allegedly intended to destabilize the region by injecting counterfeit currency and arms.A case has been registered at Gharinda Police Station in Amritsar, and a comprehensive probe is now underway to uncover both forward and backward linkages involved in the racket.
Authorities are intensifying efforts to dismantle the broader network behind the operation.
