Chandigarh, February 11 The parents of the slain Punjabi singer, Sidhu Moosewala, staged a protest against the Superintendent of Police in Mansa on Wednesday, alleging that he had not registered a First Information Report (FIR) on their complaint regarding financial irregularities by a music producer and two others.
Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, popularly known as Sidhu Moosewala, was shot dead in the Mansa district of Punjab on May 29, 2022. Charges were framed against the jailed gangster, Lawrence Bishnoi, and 26 other accused in connection with the murder case.
Balkaur Singh and his wife, Charan Kaur, along with their toddler son, sat outside the SSP's office in Mansa, demanding action on their complaint against the music producer and two others.
During the protest, Balkaur stated that he had filed the complaint six months ago, and no action had been taken by the police yet.
"Neither are they (the police) acting on my complaint, nor are they returning it. The SSP is not taking any action in this matter," he alleged. "If my complaint is false, the police should return it," he said.
Balkaur said he was forced to stage a sit-in due to the police's inaction on his complaint.
He alleged that he has repeatedly visited the SSP's office demanding action, but nothing has been done yet. Later, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Bathinda Range), Harjit Singh, called the couple for a meeting.
