Hoshiarpur, Feb 2 (PTI) – Tension gripped Bhavnor village in Hoshiarpur as residents staged a protest on Monday, demanding swift action against the culprits responsible for the murder of Kulwant Singh, a fuel pump employee.
Singh was shot dead on February 1 by three unidentified assailants near Kheeranwali village on the Kapurthala-Goindwal road in Kapurthala district. Outraged by the crime, locals and Singh’s family members took to the streets, blocking the Talwara-Una road at Adda Bhavnor for nearly an hour.
The protesters not only called for the immediate arrest of the accused but also urged authorities to provide financial assistance to Singh’s grieving family. Responding to their demands, Dasuya MLA Karamvir Singh Ghuman visited the protest site and assured monetary support, along with a private job for Singh's wife.
Following these assurances, the protesters ended the road blockade, allowing normal traffic to resume. Authorities continue their investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice.
